CEO of IT Organization: the Top-Level Domains Committee has been created in ICT working-group

Top-Level Domains Committee has been created in ICT working-group in order to follow up the subjects related to top level domains recorded in Icon public Institute of consultative committee.

PR of the Ministry of ICT- Mahdiun said:" the Committee has 14 members including 12 members from public organizations and 2 members from private sector, from NSR and Chamber of Commerce".
"It has been written letters to more than 180 organizations related to this area now, and the final list of the names that are important for Iran is prepared", he added.
He emphasized:" On the other hand, we are contacting with some Islamic commonwealth countries in this area by Foreign Ministry's cooperation".
Head of Top-Level Domains Committee pointed to the background of these domains around the world and added:" Icon institute has been established in 1998 to manage internet resources, that the domain's names is considered as one of the resources' and launched some main registry offices to manage the top level domains names, so the applicants can also record their needed names through these offices".
"It was supposed to save the national domains for each country based on the international agreements, so, 2003 was the last time when it was permitted to register top level domains and then 22 names such as ".com" and ".org" has been registered except the state names", he continued.
CEO of IT organization emphasized:"Now, Icon Institute has registered for Top Level Domains (TLD) for the third times in the internet history and after an interval of 9 years".
He pointed to the commercial aspect in this area and the conditions prepared for legal persons' investment and continued:" Now, all applicants can register for top level names without language limitation and also they can do that regional".
"Two topics has been considered in this area: It's predicted that about one thousand applicants will register for TLD, and on the other hand, some names such as "Damavand" is located in IRAN and cannot be registered out of the country", Saeed Mahdiun continued.
Vice-chairman of IT organization continued:" there is a public advisory committee in Icon management hierarchy contains of the government's official members and according to the institute announcement, the committee has 60 days times to receive the government opinion about the registered domains".
He said:" these names will be divided in 4 groups by the government including: first group which have no problem, the second which have world consensus, the other one have some country's protest and the forth group can be registered with some corrections".
Head of Top-Level Domains Committee said:" the applicants can complain to the public advisory committee to investigate if there is a difficulty in registration ".
"If the applicants be in the right, the proposed domain will be registered, otherwise it won't be", he continued
"Top-Level Domains Committee has been created in ICT working-group to identify the considered domains", he added.
