PR of the Ministry of ICT – Dr. Reza Taghipour in the Seventh National Conference on Geographic Information systems GIS89 that was hold in National Cartographic Center said: "In our view, Geographic information is an IT infrastructure because information is considered a vital necessity on managing debates today, even in small businesses meanwhile the Geographic Information has a special position".
He expressed that the Geographic Information is used in many areas and emphasized:" for example, information should be implemented on the map correctly to modify the optimized consumption patterns, so SDI make it easy".
Minister of ICT emphasized on the importance of "Geographic Information development" in the country and continued:" we need to make culture and promote it as well as legal requirements for it's advancement".
He pointed to the powers of ICT work group in the government and said: "It can create the necessary coordination between the organizations for making the required infrastructure capacity for Geographic information".
"This system will not be formed without cooperation of different ministries", he emphasized.
Taghipour in another part of the statement emphasized on hosting Geographic Information in the national data center and pointed that the National Data Center would be provided for all organizations till 1390 (solar year).
He expressed that the National Data Center is a necessity for crucial information at national level and said: "Currently the center has a high capacity and can host the governmental sites. Thus, from the future September, it's considered as a violation of law if the site server of governmental organizations be out of the country".
He announced that the bandwidth capacity of the country will reach to 470 Gigabit per second soon and emphasized: "There are no limits for providing Geographic information bandwidth".
It should be noted that the seventh National Conference of Geographic Information System (GI289) with the slogan "SDI and GIS as a tool and infrastructure for fair distribution of resources" has been opened this morning in National Cartographic Center.
