According to Iranian Communication Ministry’s Public Relation department, APSCO organization was established in 2005 by Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru and Thailand, with the aim of joint cooperation in space sector, and currently is implementing more than 10 joint space projects.
The Tenth Meeting of the APSCO Council was Held in Istanbul-Turkey during 06-08 September 2016.
Based on this report, during this session the member countries discussed joint space projects, training and development of highly specialized personnel, sharing space data and the Joint Small Multi-Mission Satellite Constellation Program.
In the continuation of the meeting, Iran’s proposal for putting an Iranian satellite in the joint constellation of member countries was put to discussion and was finally approved.
The Chairman of APSCO Council Dr. Mohsen Bahrami, the Vice Minister of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of Iran and the President of Iranian Space Agency (ISA), and the Vice Chairman of APSCO Council, Mr. Qaiser Anees Khurram, Chairman of Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) co-chaired this meeting.
Iran took over as the Chairman of APSCO Council for a 2 year term during the ninth session of this meeting held last year in Beijing.
