According to a report by ICT Ministry’s Public Relation, during this meeting, Dr. Vaezi welcomed the visit of S. Korea’s President in May, and the agreements made in that trip, underscoring the positive and constructive aspects of the joint cooperation in the ICT sector, such as exchanging experiences and the common achievements in this era, stating that: “In view of the vast markets of Iran and its neighboring countries, the necessary preparation for investment and joint production of new technologies in ICT sector and the establishment of R&D centers is already in place.”
He referred to the long cooperation history of the ICT sector and the private corporations of the two countries, expressing that: “There are vast opportunities available in the post-sanctions era, and we wish to see Korean corporations specializing in advanced technology transfer and especially, in communication infrastructure sector, to have a more effective and active role, so that our bilateral cooperation can transform into investment and joint production.”
Samsung Electronics President and CEO, Jong-Kyun Shin, also referred to the role of ICT and new technologies in the social development of human societies, announcing that: “Absence of essential natural resources has left no path available for development of South Korea except expansion and investment of the ICT sector and improvement of the infrastructure of this industry.”
Samsung CEO stated that it is part of their ongoing efforts to assist other countries with their technological achievements, adding that: “We are fully prepared to present our technological achievements to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He expressed that: “Simultaneously with the 2018 World Competitions, we are going to present the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, a technology which can revolutionize the communication sector.”
Shin expressed pleasure over the visit of the Iranian Communication Minister from the achievements of his firm, referring to the signing of a cooperation document between the ICT Research Center and Samsung Electronics, as a strong foundation for building future collaborations.
In this visit, attended by the officials from related corporations and the specialized organizations of the ICT Ministry, including Iranian mobile network operators and representatives of the Telecommunication Company, the parties exchanged their viewpoints regarding common frameworks for cooperation, and the capacities of the Iranian market, and managed to achieve preliminary agreements.
