Dr. Bahrami: Utilizing All Capacities in University, Industry, and Government

The head of the Iranian Space agency, speaking in his own inauguration ceremony held this morning in presence of MP’s, the Minister of ICT and his deputies, remarked: “We intend to utilize all the existing capacities in universities, industries, and the government.”

According to ICT’s PR department, Dr. Bahrami, deputy of ICT and the head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA), further added that: “Separation of this agency from the ICT Ministry at its own time was a policy, and its return, is yet another one. But I think this return will increase the government-parliament interaction in the agency, resulting in the increased efficiency of the ISA.”

Highlighting ISA’s achievements to this date, he said: “Launching of the Kavosh group of rockets and payload recovery, designing and developing and launching of Omid, Fajr and other satellites, launching live animals and their recovery, engineering and construction of Launch Stations, construction of various wide-ranging infrastructure, plus establishing launch capability, are just some of these competences.”

Bahrami, while maintaining that the ISA is pursuing the development of peaceful space activities in Iran, included: “It is my hope and wish to make the research and development standpoint fully operational in the ISA and be able to fulfill both the Presidency’s and the Parliament’s outlook during my term of service.”

The Deputy Minister of ICT, underscoring local capabilities, said that: “Growth and development of the space sector in Iran requires expansion of communication in the International Affairs.”

Further elaborating, he included that, “Today, the space sector is undergoing changes and reforms throughout the globe and dozens of countries are actively pursuing space technologies; and we can also benefit from this opportunity by means of international facilities and regulations.”

Referring to the network of activities in the ISA, Bahrami added that: “Today we are witnessing a huge network of space technology centers in our country, and this agency is one of the main and efficient components in the field.”

Stating that the ISA is responsible for meeting the requirements of the country and the people, he included: “The main approach of this Agency’s operations should be forward-looking, progressive and beneficial for both Iran and the world.”

He also stressed on the significant role of Iranian space technologies in the international arena, saying that. “We have to learn to set our personal and organizational interests in direction of gaining credibility in the international arena.”

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance and necessity of utilizing all the available resources in the country, including the universities, industries, and the government, and further elaborated: “Networking is a major principle for promoting the ISA’s objectives; we want to refrain from any parallel activity through a network design, and try to achieve a single voice environment.”

 

The Necessity of Commercializing Space Technologies throughout the region and the world.

Dr. Bahrami stressed on the importance of having a productive attitude in all space activities and said: “Now that we are in possession of space technology, we can use this opportunity for commercialization of this technology throughout the region and around the world.”

He pointed out the necessity of productive interaction and close cooperation with the other space entities in Iran and said that: “Encouraging the private sector, especially science-oriented companies, in entering space sector activities, and supporting the space scientists are quite imperative.”

Bahrami stressed on considering the various applications of the space technology in different sectors, saying: “Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Disasters,
